Reflections

O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good!

Twelve years ago, Jabneh Christian academy was just a thought.  Today, it holds memories for so many and has provided a solid foundation for many hundred icons.  So many were employed, trained, developed and experienced Christ, the Great Master Teacher.

We have evolved from a bedroom with seven icons to five classrooms, four offices, over seventy icons,  a bathroom complex, kitchen and cafeteria and an expanse of outdoor space.

Our products and services have developed and are being sought by clients near and far.  Our flagship product, the literacy programme, is now called the Nehemiah Reading Programme and utilises the Francis Campbell Approach to Literacy.  This reading system has textbooks, charts, CD.s, a Facebook support group and will have a parent guide.

This institution has been the haven for many who experienced challenges in a number of areas.  Our very first student with autism is now in high school and is preparing to sit CSEC.  Again, let us declare that the Lord is good.

This year has been interesting.  We have had a great mixture of icons.  We had a five years old icons in grade 5, 2 and 1; a 12 years old applied to university and was accepted; a sixteen years old is awaiting acceptance; we admitted icons with critical reading challenges who have spent the better part of their school years in the mainstream education system only to be 9, 10 and  12  years and were unable to name all the letters of the English alphabet and produce their individual sounds.  With a reading system that produces results, a print-rich, friendly, family environment, dedicated staff and improved nutrition, these icons have progressed along the reading spectrum.

It is not possible to state it all in this article, however, I must make mention of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wisconsin. They have supported us throughout the years and have helped up to evolve.  Every aspect of the institution has been impacted by Trinity!   The community in which we are located has experienced their love, service and sacrifice.  Individual family lives have been improved. We extend our gratitude to Trinity for all you have done and what you are committing to do. We would not have gotten this far without you.
