Proverbs 10:9
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.
We all desire to walk securely. However, this is possible only if we are walking in integrity. What is integrity? Integrity stems from the Latin word which means “whole” or “complete”. Integrity is often defined as honesty or truthfulness. I want to add to this definition the word consistent. Integrity is being consistent in our character, upstandingness, uprightness, fairness and strong moral principles regardless of the situation.
As we seek to raise children, we should endeavour to raise children who are whole and complete. No one achieves this level of wholeness without knowing who he or she is. Our children need to know who they are. Any deficiency in this area will cause them to be inconsistent as situations and environments change. Consistency is the culture of authenticity. Whenever and wherever our children turn up, the real deal must be present. We will come alongside our children and teach them to walk in integrity.
Let us declare:
- My children will walk securely because they will walk in integrity.
- They know who they are and what they are about.
- Circumstances will not dictate their responses
- By consistent behaviour patterns, decision-making skills and upstandingness will they be known.
