With so many interesting things to do in just one day everyday, something has to give and many of us give up sleep. This is not unique to adults. Our children have have the same solution.

Sleep Deprivation
It is no longer a secret that too many at this time are sleep depraved. Are you or your child/children apart of the statistics?
Here are a few points I would like to leave with you:
1. Sleep plays a vital role in your health.
2. Sleep protects your mental and physical health.
3. Sleep improves your quality of life and safety.
4. Sleep helps and supports children’s growth and development.
5. Sleep helps the brain to work properly.
6. Sleep helps your body to heal
7. Sleep repairs the heart and blood vessels.
8. Children who are sleep depraved may have issues getting along with others, controlling their emotions and behaviours and also coping with changes.
9. Sleep deficiency can result in depression, suicide and increased stress.
10. Lack of sleep increases one’s risk of obesity.
Recommended Sleep Time
Age
2 to 5 yrs. – 10 to 13 hours
6 to 12 yrs. – 9 to 12 hours
13 to 18 yrs – 8 to 10 hours
18 yrs up- 7 to 8 hours
